Everyone experiences the feeling of joy, but how does one define it?

THE JOY ARCHIVE is an archive of which documents the happiest moments of the general public via smells. Composed of a physical database with a digital counterpart, the archive takes on the task of finding the ‘truest’ translation of what happiness is via an array of translations due to happiness being different for everyone. Participants are asked to recount a happy moment which is recorded and picked apart to find smells that may resonate with the moment. This is distilled in the homemade apparatus translating the moment into an universally clear liquid form that is similar to the rest of the archive. Attached to the bottle is a scanner that can be used to access the recording, allowing users of the archive to get a better, more intimate understanding of happiness for the specific participant whilst also living it through the smell.
